What is STEM?
STEM is an acronym that stands for "Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math." We find connections between these topics and real-world examples to bring our students different and meaningful instruction. We believe that a STEM curriculum helps to promote not only learning, but valuable skills that will help our students for years to come. Every day our students practice communication, collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, ethical considerations, and optimism through the Engineering Design Process. We are training our students to think critically and act as engineers for all of life's challenges!
"Too often we give children answers to remember rather than problems to solve." Our mission is to prepare students to fulfill their potential in an ever changing global society, and STEM instruction allows us to do just that. By giving students problems to solve and challenges to take on, we are teaching students valuable lessons that they will take with them forever. We also focus on the five Engineering Habits of Mind identified by the National Academy of Engineering.
